OUR TEAM

First Nations Security and Safety (FNS) values our connection to and representation of Community.  Our actions and our success are guided by our completely Indigenous led Community Advisory Committee. The Committee provides FNS a community governance lens on our organisation’s operations from training to cultural safety. The Committee also reviews FNS current and potential clients to ensure alignment with our founding principles and harmony with community expectation. 

AUNTY ZETA THOMSON

Aunty Zeta Thomson is a respected Elder and descendant of the Yarra Yarra Clan of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, and a descendant of the Ulupna Clan of the Yorta Yorta.

A leader in Aboriginal affairs, Aunty Zeta has worked at community and national levels in the advocacy of land rights and Aboriginal people within the justice system. Aunty brings decades of experience and knowledge to FNS for her work in community and the board and programs she has led.

KYLE VANDER-KUYP OLY

Kyle is a proud Yuin and Worimi man from the south and north coasts of New South Wales. An Olympian and Australian record holder he has competed at the Olympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

​Kyle is a Chair and CEO of the Killara foundation and manages several business interest with community and youth at the centre of his professional life.  He advocates for Indigenous employment, housing support and mentorship of young people starting out in their careers. 

SEAN ARMISTEAD

A Potaruwutj Padthaway man, Sean is an experienced executive across the corporate, community and government sectors. Over the past 15 years Sean has led various strategies and programs for many of Australia’s largest companies particularly in employment and procurement. 

In the community Sean has sat on various Boards including Kinaway Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce, Killara Foundation, University of Melbourne Alumni Council, Ganbina Agents of Change and cofounded CareerTrackers, Australia’s largest Indigenous Internship Program.  

 

MARK THOMSON

A proud Yorta Yorta and Wurundjeri man, Mark has led national employment initiatives for Aboriginal people across Australia. A former Director of the Yoorrook Justice Commission, Mark brings a strong understanding of government policy and Victoria’s journey of truth telling, laws and policy reform necessary for healing the impacts of colonisation.

Mark was formerly Chair of Worawa Aboriginal College and is currently a Director of The Adam Briggs Foundation support Aboriginal excellence within the arts and music sectors.

GRACE SMEATON

A proud Gunaikurnai woman, Grace has worked across the Victorian community supporting youth in a range of community led projects.  Grace is experienced in assisting the advancement of Aboriginal businesses having been part of the CPB Contractors Team establishing the North East Link Early Works.

Grace currently works within the First Peoples self-determination division within government, focussing on the rights and dignity of Traditional Owners within Victoria.
